When we say yes to things that we really do not want it has an obvious consequence and a not so obvious consequence.
First obviously we are choosing to waste our time and energy on something that we are not completely on board to actually do. Once we have a certain level of success in business or in life multiple opportunities tend to pop up everywhere. At first they look like flowers then after a while they turn into weeds because so much is vying for our attention.
When we say yes to everything we can become very successful but that same thing that made our first business take off or helped us take back our health can lead to overwhelm and lack of discipline.
We just keep saying yes because we are scared maybe it will go away or are original success was a fluke or there isn’t enough to go around. So we keep piling on what we really do not want and then the whole reason we started on the path to create freedom and balanced success gets thrown out the window.
Now the not so obvious consequence is when we say yes to all these things we do not want we are also saying no to what we actually want. Think about it this way, if your calendar is filled up with all the shit you think you are “supposed” to do then where in the hell is the space for what you actually want? You are literally pushing away what you want because you have no space, energy or time for it.
That leads to burn out, overwhelm and loss of health and happiness. Give yourself a gift, you earned it. Look at your calendar and knock of 3 things that are not really what you want right now in your business, career or family life and think about what you would enjoy having in that space instead.
